One of the points of these Electric Raku pieces- titled “What’s the Point (of reference) ” or maybe “What’s Your Point (of reference) ” is to introduce these forms and try find a place to make them.
These are more studies or miniature prototypes than intended as pieces as an end to themselves.
As a side note - I hope that they, these small versions, will make grand little watering places for the families of honeybees that have taken up residence on the roof where I live.
I hope that I can continue and make them in the "correct" scale - the four to six foot wide sculptural forms that I wish to complete that these are the prototypes for.
I’ve worked out, in my imagination and in RL, some of the technical hardships. I think it’s fair to say that there are plenty more of them to play with. I have made a larger bowl sculptures before, one was called “Venus Bird Bath”. A chair like sculpture with tentacles that the rare person would want to sit in.
This was the first of large bowls on pedestals or legs that I wanted to do as a series, leaving Syracuse before I could utilize the sizable facilities of a college, plans like these were relegated to the imagination.
